Octopups translation is based on a simple process: the GUI (User Interface) extracts the label and terms from a table according to the language settings.

Octopus being in constant evolution, new words regularly appear and it is thus necessary to keep working on the glossary as new versions are released.

To help us updating the translation or add new languages, you just have to take the latest translation spreadsheet (see below) and write the adequate words in the corresponding lines and columns. Be careful not to modify the column on the left of the table as it is the reference on which the software rely to extract the related expression.

Each translation process is called a Translation iteration.

Generaly, to support a new language we need at least 3 iterations :

  • First iteration : we produce a "beta" release showing the new language GUI. This iteration is quite long because the amount of text to translate is big.
  • Second iteration : fix detected translations issues and translate new entries (entries apaired in Octopusv during the first iteration)
  • Third iteration : Final translation. Your translation is now available to all users !
