Iterations

Octopus is normally released every 2 or 3 weeks. We call these cycles: Iterations.

For each iteration we define the set of issues that will be fixed.

You can see these sets of issues on the Jira change log

We sometime provide intermediary releases in case of found blocking bugs or urgent requests.

All official releases are available on the source forge web site: http://sourceforge.net/projects/omfs

Working with Jira

Jira is the tool we use for managing Octopus iterations. It manages all issues concerning Octopus development. The methodology is based on agile practice where we redefine the planning at each iteration.

Here is its location: http://forge.octo.com/jira/browse/OMFS

Useful Information

The normal issue workflow is:

  • Someone creates the issue (bug, new feature, improvement or task).
  • A developer assigns the issue to himself telling he will work on this issue
  • The developer starts working on the issue
  • The developer resolves the issue.
  • The issue creator decided to close the issue if he is ok with the developer response, or reopen the issue other else.

Of course during this process, discussions and arbitrages happen around the issue.
